Wedding Tasting with Made by Meg

For those of you in the event industry, you all know there are so many moving parts to each event. Whether it be a corporate event or a big, beautiful wedding, the details are so important. The music choices, DJ or band, entertainment, décor, the venue, and my favor detail of all, the food.

We have clients that are planning their wedding with us for May 2022, and the first thing they wanted to work on was tasting food from different caterers. Me being the foodie I am, I immediately said, “Let’s do it!” and started contacting caterers.

We started the first tasting with Made by Meg Catering, who by the way were so sweet and accommodating. They had sent their entire menu for us to pick from and the bride and groom were overwhelmed with the number of options provided.

First, we started with some bubbly and delicious wines to try. After we were warmed up, we started with a plethora of hors’ doeuvre options. To name a few or my favorites, we tried the crostini with cashew cheese and poached pear slices drizzled with a balsamic glazed – to die for, if you are a vegan or not! Then we tried chicken and waffles with yummy maple syrup, I love me some salty and sweet combinations. Also, the beef and veggie burger sliders were great, along with the spicy tuna crispy rice.

Bread. Bread is something everyone can agree on I think. Even if you are on a low carb diet, at a wedding all rules go out the window, especially if there is honey butter! We tried a brioche bun and ciabatta bread, and we were torn between the two, so we decided to call it a tie and go with both. Now as much as I love all the carbs, I love me a great, tasty salad. This salad was made of arugula, sliced strawberries, candied walnuts, and goat cheese, all topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. Flavor explosion in my mouth I tell you!

Next and not last, came the main course options. A choice between juicy chicken thighs topped with Kalamata olives, and braised short rib. Both options served with a bed of creamy mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. To close out the tasting we all devoured a warm, chewy, delicious chocolate chip cookie that I am still daydreaming about.

Now that I described the whole menu and made myself drool, I want to eat it all over again! I must continue researching and planning for our next event. On to the next tasting…Ciao!
